The groundbreaking ceremony of Thompson San Antonio and The Arts Residences took place on Tuesday, at the project site in San Antonio. Thompson San Antonio and The Arts Residences will be a mixed-use development featuring a high-rise tower and hotel with 162 guest rooms and 58 residences with luxury amenities. The groundbreaking began with the ceremony of shovels, followed by keynote speakers, including the developer, Roberto Contreras CEO of DC Partners; Acho Azuike, COO and Managing Director of DC Partners; Leland Rocchio, President of Jordan Foster’s Commercial Construction Group, the general contractor, among others.

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for next week to begin construction on a new high-rise that will include dozens of residences and more than 150 hotel rooms. The Arts Residences and Thompson San Antonio will be built at the corner of North St. Mary’s Street and Lexington Avenue, along the River Walk and across from the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

San Antonio will soon add more downtown, luxury homes when The Arts Residences and The Thompson Hotel are completed. The next step toward that, the groundbreaking on the mixed-used development, is set for Jan. 30, with an aim toward a 2019 completion date, according to a news release.

Alongside exotic destinations like the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires and the African nation of Zambia, San Antonio has been crowned by Travel+Leisure magazine as one of the 50 best places to travel in 2018. The Travel+Leisure accolade comes on the heels of National Geographic Traveler magazine adding San Antonio to its lineup of the 21 must-visit destinations for 2018. San Antonio is one of only three U.S. cities among the 21 destinations.
